A Letter to All About the Recent Events

Dear My Lovely, Beautiful Readers,

Hello all. I hope you are all doing well today! I know that me moving my blog post up a day was weird, but today I have a more somber post that I really felt needed to be shared. I pray that all of you are doing well, and I pray that this post will not only reach those who need to hear it, but also encourage and motivate those who need to hear it. I love you all, and I encourage you all to keep reading.

You know, if there is anything I have seen that is becoming more and more prominent and normal in this cultural is hate. You see it on street corners. I have seen it in the media and at political rallies. It is thriving and growing stronger in our country; especially in our schools. It is obviously and painfully evident in the amount of school shootings this past year– especially this past week. It is absolutely heartbreaking, and yet we as a people are slowly becoming accustomed to them occurring in our everyday lives.

I also see so much confusion. I see the rise in drug use and people attempting to escape the struggles of this life. I see alcoholism on the rise. I see the decline in the people attending church. I see the people of this nation’s hearts being so hard to the truth, and yet they are so desperately trying to find it in things that were never meant to hold it.

At the end of the day, we as a nation are lost. It is evident if you even watch a mere minute of the news, and it is scary. We are a nation at war with itself, and we are slowly tearing ourselves apart. Neighbor is turning on neighbor over views over politics. Families are being torn apart, and love is being lost within those family units. It absolutely breaks my heart to see what we as a nation have become, and you know what? We are repeating history. Ponder this verse for a moment and see if you can relate it to modern day America:

25 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit (Judges 21:25).

Doesn’t it seem like our culture today? Doesn’t it seem that overall as a society that we are all doing our own thing, and believing the truths that we see fit into our lives and are convenient for us, instead of believing in one true Truth?

You know, Mark 3:24 states, “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”

A kingdom divided cannot stand.

This is worrisome, but we must remember one thing:

Not all hope is lost. There is a solution.

It is not only the opposite of hate, but it is also the strongest force here on this Earth. It was love that carried Jesus to that cross for our sins, and it was His everlasting love that saves and changes it all. When you get just a taste, you can’t help but want more of it, and spread it to all of the people around you. That is just what this world and this nation needs.

One of my all time favorite Christian bands is For King and Country, and some of there lyrics really preach this message. Some of the lyrics are below, and I really want you guys to let these words and their power sink in.

“Ceasefire” :

How do we save a life
Pointing fingers?
How can we end the fight
This way?
When blame is the truth we’re preaching?
And lies are what we’re believing?
No one ever wins
When the goal is to settle the score

One by one we will call for a ceasefire
One by one we will fight for a better end
One by one we could rewrite the headlines
Standing side by side
One by one, love is building an empire
One by one, reaching out to our enemies
One by one we will make it to the finish line
Standing side by side

“By Our Love” :

We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity will one day be restored
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love by our love
Yes they’ll know we are Christians by our love

We will walk with each other
We will walk hand in hand
We will walk with each other
We will walk hand in hand
And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love by our love
Yes they’ll know we are Christians by our love

I’ve emphasized some lyrics that have really stood out to me, and my point is this: Guys, we got to love on people. As Christians, that is the greatest commandment besides loving God and, dare I say, in this day and age it is needed now more than ever. We need to work together, for we are “one in the Spirit and in the Lord.”  We need to spread Jesus, not just with our mouths or through scriptures in our Instagram captions, but in our everyday lives and through our actions. We can “rewrite headlines.” We can flip this nation on its side and change the course of country. We can do this, but we have to start small. This week, I encourage y’all to love on and one person you either find it hard to love, or someone that is deemed undeserving of love. Be intentional. Be kind. And if anything else, be like Jesus. Now I know we are not perfect nor can we perform miracles, but if we attempt to even be a sliver of who Jesus was and how He served, we could change that person’s entire life. I want to encourage you guys to live in such a way this week that it would make people wonder what you have that makes you so different. Why do you love on somebody, what do you have that makes you so special? And if they ask, tell them about the love of Jesus, just as simple as saying, “Because Jesus loves me, I need to love on others and show them what I have in Him.” You don’t even have to use that fancy of lingo, but just try to show them that it is Jesus working in you to love on others this week.

You know, with all of these school shootings going on, my heart is not discouraged but rather encouraged to go into the school systems (God-willing). Those kids need someone to love them like Jesus does, and if my life is sacrificed in the process of saving one kid’s life, well then I have done my part. I do not say that at all to get a pat on the back or to gain any brownie points or to brag whatsoever, trust me. But I genuinely mean it. If those kids find Jesus because of the way I attempted to live my life here on this Earth, then my purpose has been fulfilled because that is exactly what my God did for me, and I want to help people find Him in anyway that I can. Therefore, it is with a desperate plea that I encourage all of you lovely people to attempt to intentionally love on others this week, the next, and for the rest of your life. I am not perfect in this, nor am I trying to set myself or you guys on an unattainable pedestal, but if were to all just try to live like Jesus day in and day out, this world holds a lot of potential of being a lot different place.

It is what Jesus commanded, and it is what this nation needs. I love all of you guys, and I want and need you guys to know that you are loved. By Jesus, and by me. I am always here if you need to talk, and though I cannot sit down and talk face-to-face, I am picturing us all having coffee and talking in this very moment. I pray that you will chase after Jesus with your whole heart, and love Him and others with all that you are. Have a great week, and know that though this is more of a somber post I desperately know that it needed to be said. To God be the glory, and may all of you have a great week.

With Love,
